First I'd like to thank you for making such a good job on this magazine. It is hard to find a magazine dedicated to MAC entertainment.
I was wondering if you could put the Carmaddegon PwrMac demo on your next CD-ROM. It is a long download (13MB I think). If you could it would be great! Charles A. Revkin - via Internet
• Charles, thanks for the kind words. You bet the demo’s gonna be on the next IMG (this IMG). We always put whatever demos are available, and sometimes we even hold the magazine specifically to wait for some of the bigger demos so that our readers won’t have to wait 6 weeks to get their hands on them.

Demos II
Okay so why is it that PC users always get so much more out of a demo that Mac users? Take a look at games like Abuse, Duke Nukem and Quake. The PC demos for these games came with more levels than the Mac equivalents. Take Quake for instance: on the PC, you can go all the way to the first rune and battle the Lava God. The Mac demo takes you back to the beginning after the 4th level. So what gives? Do manufacturers of games think that Mac users are less prone to buy their games if they include the complete demo? David Candland - Via Internet
•Despite our best efforts we couldn’t find a reason for this discrepancy. I am as baffled as you are. It’s kind of along the lines of, why do Mac games cost $5 - $15 more than their PC counterparts when the Mac version was a simultaneous release?

Mac Game Quality
I'm disappointed in the quality of games for the Mac. I have purchased some Hasbro Interactive, but am now finding that Risk & Battleship are only available for Win95. Who can complaints/suggestions be directed to. Jean Murchison - via Internet
• Jean, I think that it’s not accurate to say that Mac games are of lower quality in general, but yes, there are some publishers that put out truly shoddy products for the Mac. I would complain directly to the publisher, but of course, your complaint has already been lodged with the IMG readers.

Red Alert
Hi! I want to know if Westwood is planning to make Red Alert and Covert Operations Missions Disk for C&C for the Macintosh!!!!!! Do you have any idea?
Gaston Borruel - Via Internet
• The official word right now is that Westwood is not porting Red Alert.

Direct X Mac
Some weeks ago I wrote an e-mail to Access Software because I bought Links LS for the Mac and I am interested in the Links LS 98 Edition.
A guy from the technical support mailed me that Links LS 98 Edition will not be released soon because there is no DirectX for the Mac!! Hahahahaha!! What a fool - nobody needs DirectX on a Mac! And he really believes what he wrote - no joke!

• Yep, it’s always interesting to hear what some poor uninformed people think. I actually had a salesman tell me once that PCs were the first to have ‘multimedia’ and ‘Desktop Publishing’. Ignorance is bliss.
